HostGator is Giving Back
HostGator strongly believes in giving back to the community and to the greater good. In response to this belief, HostGator established the HostGator Technology Grant in September 2008 that provides free and discounted web hosting to worthy causes and organizations.
HostGator Technology Grant:
The HostGator Technology Grant provides one year of completely FREE web hosting on HostGator's Business Hosting Plan to all qualifying non-profits that are selected by HostGator management. The Business Hosting Plan provides customers with 1,000 GB of disk space, unlimited bandwidth, and the ability to host unlimited domains. Alternatively, the cash value of the plan ($180) can also be applied as a discount to any other HostGator product or service.
How it Works:
Qualifying organizations and causes simply have to fill out the application form, which takes about 15 minutes to complete. Once the application is completed, it is sent to HostGator management and evaluated. Selected causes and organizations will be offered the HostGator Technology Grant.
Qualifying Causes and Organizations:
Companies looking to qualify for the HostGator Technology Grant must
clearly serve the greater good. HostGator is most interested in
serving 501(c)3 non-profit organizations and other charitable
organizations that seek to improve their communities and the welfare
of others. Charities and qualifying organizations should be
non-political in nature. As a technology company, HostGator is also
interested in supporting organizations that work to advance science
and technology.
Application Process:
The application process takes approximately 15-25 minutes. Once your application is submitted, you will hear from HostGator within one to two weeks. If your organization or cause is given the HostGator Technology Grant, your account will be activated shortly afterwards.

Non-profit Donations:
In addition to providing the HostGator Technology Grant to qualified non-profits, HostGator regularly donates to worthy causes such as M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and One Laptop Per Child. In 2008, HostGator donated over $125,000 to those two organizations alone.
Helping the Environment:
In August 2008, HostGator decided to help reduce its impact on the environment and purchased Green-e certified wind credits to offset HostGator's environmental impact . All of HostGator's shared and reseller hosting servers are 130% wind powered, meaning that HostGator not only neutralizes its environmental carbon emissions impact, but also helps to reverse it. HostGator's dedication to the environment has the same impact as protecting over 500 acres of rainforest per year.
